‘Tis the season! Join us for the 12th annual Cookbook Social, hosted by Tom Douglas Seattle Kitchen at our Palace Ballroom in downtown Seattle! Our festive elves have gathered some of the best cookbook authors and local purveyors to help you get a jumpstart on your holiday shopping needs. This event is a great opportunity to build your own cookbook library at home or to stock up on gifts for your food loving friends and family. With a glass of wine in hand, enjoy bites from a variety of featured cookbook recipes, book signing opportunities, holiday gifting inspiration and samples from the Pacific Northwest’s food artisans, bakers, brewers, and more!

Join your favorite local cookbook and culinary guidebook authors for a holiday book signing at Headwaters at The Heathman Hotel. (Hint, hint: a signed book makes a great holiday gift.) Authors will be on hand to sign and sell their latest and greatest titles as well as offer small bites and beverages for the crowd. Free to attend!

FRENCH KISSES: An Evening of Champagne and Chocolate

Join book authors Alan Tardi and Cheryl Wakerhauser for a fun discussion and tasting of two of life’s favorite things – champagne and chocolate! Alan, author of the award winning book, Champagne Uncorked, will share tales about his time behind the scenes of one of champagnes most notable houses – Krug. Hear what harvest is like in the famed Clos du Mesnil vineyard, why blending is so important in Champagne and perhaps the history behind sabering (that would be slicing the top of the bottle off with a sword!) Cheryl, author of Modern French Pastry, will offer tips and tricks for choosing and working with chocolate, as well as advice on the best chocolate treats to pair with champagne.

Guests will enjoy a tasting of three champagnes recommended by Alan and three chocolate desserts from Modern French Pastry. We’ll start the night with a bit of prosecco and light snacks, and end it with (what else?) a sabering demo! Safety first, as we teach you the secrets of sabering your own champagne. Be mine?

Celebrate the release of Pix Pâtisserie owner and chef’s new cookbook, Modern French Pastry. Enjoy a walk around tasting of multiple desserts from each chapter of the book – cakes, tarts, coupes, entremets and petits fours. Plus, “Parlor Trick” and pastry demos. Each guest will also receive a raffle ticket to win the dessert featured on the cover, A Moment of Zen. And at our Bubble Bar, our award-winning Champagne & sparkling wine list will be pouring unique wines and Champagne cocktails.
